海南省博物馆位于海口市国兴大道68号，占地60余亩，建筑面积44500平方米，展厅面积12000平方米，库房区面积9300平方米。它是海南省“十二五”重大文化建设项目，被评为海南6大最美建筑之一。海南省博物馆筹建于1984年，2008年11月15日一期建成并开馆，2017年5月18日二期全面开馆，是海南省内一座综合性博物馆，也是国家一级博物馆。
海南省博物馆的展览自成体系，它以“南溟奇甸”为展览主题，策划出由三大基本陈列 :“南溟泛舸——南海海洋文明陈列”“方外封疆——海南历史陈列”“仙凡之间——海南风情陈列”;两个专题陈列:“木中皇后——海南黄花梨陈列”“香中魁首——海南沉香陈列”和非遗“四个一”：“琼工坊——海南传统手工技艺陈列”“琼肴街——海南饮食文化陈列”“琼崖村——海南少数民族非遗陈列”“琼戏台――琼州表演艺术陈列”组成的完整展陈体系，将明代理学名臣丘濬《南溟奇甸赋》中描绘的海南奇景真实呈现，跃然于公众眼前。
参观须知：
1. 开放实行“免费不免票”制度，每天限量发放免费参观门票5000张，观众须在领票处凭有效证件排队领票（身份证、护照、学生证、军官证、 老人证、 驾驶证等），16:30停止发票，一人一证一票（1.4米以下儿童可免票进场），当日当次有效，过期作废。
Ticket (free of charge) is required to enter the museum, and a limited number of 5 000 free tickets will be issued every day. Visitors can collect the tickets at the ticket counter with valid identification (ID, passport, student card, military ID, driving license, etc.). Ticket service will be declined after 16:30. One person can only collect one ticket with one certification（Free admission for children under 1.4 m）. The ticket is valid on the date of issue, and can only be used once.
2. 团体参观须提前24小时预约，预约咨询电话：0898-65238891，经确认成功后须按约定时间参观。超时未取票，预约取消。
Group visitors need to make a reservation 24 hours in advance. Reservation hotline: 0898-65238891. Once the reservation is confirmed, the visit must be arranged at the appointed time. The reservation will be canceled if the tickets are not picked up in time.
3. 入馆参观实行免费存包制度，可使用馆内提供的自助存包柜或前往游客中心寄存，贵重物品请自行妥善保管。
Hainan Museum provides free deposit service. Visitors can use the self-service deposit box to left luggage, and the visitor center also provides heavy luggage deposit service. Valuables should be carried on.
4. 衣冠不整、举止不雅及醉酒者谢绝入馆，携带危险管制物品者、携带宠物者（导盲犬除外）谢绝入馆。
Hainan museum excludes anyone who is disheveled or bad mannered, and anyone carrying dangerous controlled articles or pets (except guide dogs) from entering.
5. 学龄前儿童、高龄老人、行动不便者须有成年人陪护入馆参观。
Preschoolers, oldest-old, and disabled people must be accompanied by adults.
6. 展厅内禁止使用闪光灯拍照、饮食、喧哗、嬉闹，禁止从事其它与参观无关的事情；禁止随地吐痰、吸烟和随手乱扔废弃物等不文明行为，自觉接受管理人员的引导。
No flash photography, eating, frolic, shouting, and other things unrelated to the visit in the exhibition halls. Please consciously accept the guide of the management personnel.
7. 请勿在馆内使用旱冰鞋、滑板、儿童电动车、儿童自行车等休闲娱乐用品。
Do not use roller skates, skateboards, children's electric car, children's bicycles, and other recreational products in the museum.
8. 参观车辆在停车场指定位置有序停放，请勿在禁停区停放。
Vehicles should be parked orderly in the designated place of the parking lot. Do not park in the no-parking area.
9. 爱护文物展品、展览设施和其它公共服务设施及花草树木、绿地等，如有损坏照价赔偿或承担相应法律责任。
Please protect the cultural relics, exhibition facilities, and other public facilities as well as flowers, trees, and green space, etc. Any damages should be paid in full of the price, and the corresponding legal liability should be assumed.
